Geraint Bakes Bread

  Breadmaking Courses in Dinas Powys

About Me

I started baking sourdough bread in 2008 whilst I was chef/manager of the Embassy Cafe at Cathays Community Centre, Cardiff after a customer brought me some sourdough culture. I baked sourdough bread every day for sandwiches & serving with soup.

Sometime in 2010, the bread bug really bit me & I started baking a lot - and I mean a lot - at home too.

In January 2011 I left the cafe & joined Hungry Planet (Hupla) Workers' Co-op in Cardiff to help them set up a bakehouse to go with their existing cafe & wholefood shop. Hungry Planet closed in Spring 2013, but the bakery, now relocated to Cathays Community Centre, continues to flourish as Riverside Sourdough with a weekly stall at Riverside Farmers' Market on Sunday mornings and at Chapter Arts Centre on Wednesdays 4-7pm. We're also now doing Vale Farmers' Markets in Cowbridge and Penarth. We supply bread to restaurants in Cardiff, such as Milgi.

I started offering breadmaking classes at my home in Dinas Powys in the Vale of Glamorgan in April 2011 and continue to do so most Saturdays.
